John McKinney, author of 30 hiking books and all 280 trails in California parks, will meet with his readers at Fullerton.

John McKinney is also known as The Trailmaster. For 18 years, he wrote a weekly hiking column for the Los Angeles Times. McKinney is also the only person to have written about all 280 California parks and hiked solo along the state's coastline.

A park explorer wants to encourage future hikers to reconnect with nature and discover California's best day hikes. To that end, he has created the Trailmaster's Best Day Hikes series.

A seasoned speaker, John shares his unique trail philosophy and the many mental, physical and spiritual benefits of hiking in his inspirational speeches. He is currently working on Hike On. It is a half-hour show about hiking for California Public Television.

And on September 23 in Fullerton Public Library John McKinney will personally share his obsession with the trails of California's parks.

McKinney's presentation highlights the California State Library Parks Pass program offered by the Fullerton Library. Adult library card holders can sign up for a 2-week pass. It entitles you to free vehicle admission to over 200 state parks participating in the program.
