The FBI released data for 2022 and found that Irvine is the safest city in the U.S. with a population of 250,000 people or more.

Irvine holds the "Safest City" status in the United States, and Orange County in particular, for the 18th consecutive year.

According to the FBI, Irvine has the lowest per capita violent crime rate of any city of similar size in the United States. This is a testament to a high level of public safety. As well as a well-functioning police force.

Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan expressed her gratitude to the City's Police Department for their dedication and professionalism. She emphasized that the cooperation between the police and the community makes Irvine a better place to live, work and recreate with a sense of extreme safety.

Our dedicated officers work in partnership with the community every day to provide a high level of service, prevent, investigate and solve crimes. They also work tirelessly to identify and arrest criminal offenders. And that makes our city safer, added Police Chief Michael Kent.

The new FBI statistics are based on the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS). It provides more detailed and user-friendly information on various types of crimes. Among those included in the statistics are murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

So today, when the world is on the brink of madness, Irvine can serve as an example to other cities. In particular, how to achieve a high level of safety for its residents and visitors through cooperation, effective law enforcement and community support.
