Orange County will receive $13.3 million for transportation projects
The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) has approved a large amount of funding for Orange County's transportation projects.
We are talking about $13.3 million. The innovations will have a positive impact on people's lives. They will reduce traffic and improve air quality," assures the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
The plan includes investments in infrastructure, transportation projects in Orange County that will also contribute to the provision and affordability of housing.
Among the 11 upcoming initiatives:
- Educational project on safe routes near schools
- Improvement of bicycle and pedestrian paths
- development of parking lot concepts, etc.
The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) will receive the largest grant of any awardee under REAP 2.0. from a total budget of $322. The total is $ 237.41.
REAP 2.0 is a flexible grant program that embodies California's progressive vision for a future where everyone has the opportunity to live closer to their jobs, services, and places they frequent. The Foundation will provide financial support for planning and implementation of projects for community development. And also - reducing automobile use.
As noted by Lourdes Castro Ramirez, Secretary of The California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency, California is proud to partner with local communities to build more affordable homes in the right places - near jobs, public transportation and neighborhood services. To mitigate the impact of climate change, improve people's quality of life, and meet the state's climate goals.
SCAG will distribute the funds received to cities and counties based on population. This includes Orange County's transportation projects. Because the primary goal is to support the implementation of housing programs and strategies that are consistent with REAP 2.0.
The grant is an important investment in the future of Southern California. We hope the realization of the projects will not be long in coming.
